OTHER INTERESTING 'STUFF'

An entry ticket for the Bone Ossuary in Sedlec, nr Kutna Hora in Czech Republic

Dinamo Kiev v Tavira Simferepol Ticket. We managed to catch the big local side at home. And they won 6-0! Cost? about £3.50.

Kiev Hotel Sign In Form
We had to fill this in on our arrival at our hotel in Kiev. Thankfully, we were then given the English version to use.

Czech Road Toll Stub
To lecally use the Czech motorway system, you need one of these. Purchased for 11 Euros just after crossing the border as the fine for not having one was 5000 Euros. We totally didn't then dick about weaving through the cones on a contraflow right after the services.....

Nurburgring Card
A smart card from the famous Nurburgring racing circuit. You have to have one of these for buying food, drink & of course a lap. No cash accepted!

Mongolian Toll Ticket
Our second toll of the trip was paid as we were leaving Bayankhongor. 500 Tugrig was the price. Or about 20p. As far as we could work out this was their way of raising cash to tarmac the road out of town. They must have only just started collecting, as there was no tarmac....

Mongolian Toll Ticket #2
Our final toll of the trip. We had to cough another 500 Tugrig to get into Ulaan Bataar so we could reach the finish line. At least this one meant we had tarmac to use.

Mongolian Business Card
Obtained from a Mongolian geologist we were drinking with in a strip club in UB. Sorry mum! Ahem...

Mongolian club flyer.
Flyer for a new club called ‘London’ in UB. What really made us chuckle was the bus. It's the 109 service that ends up in Croydon, just up the road from us!

Mongolian 1 Tugrig Note
Smallest note available in Mongolia and quite rare it seems. None of the Aventurists crew had seen one before. About 2500 of these = £1 then. So probably not worth the paper it’s printed on.

Ukranian 1 Hyrvna Note
Smallest note in Ukraine. With an exchange rate of about 13Ukr = £1, so worth about 7.5p at the time of the rally.

Russian 10 Rouble Note
Smallest note we found in Russia. Worth around 21p at the time.

Russian Motor Insurance Document
Cost - $60. Value? Not a sausage. Still, it keeps the local plod happy when you get pulled over (and you will!) and also should keep you out of prison should you unfortunately collide with Vladimir's Lada, causing tens of pounds worth of improvements.

Ukranian Motor Insurance Document
Cost - $25. Value? About as much as the Russian one above! It was necessary to buy this as when we crossed the border, if you drove past the office, the local plod would pull you over within 100yds asking to see your paperwork. Including this one.

Very bad. Big fine. Many dollar.

Kazakh Motor Insurance Document
Cost - $28. Worth every single penny, just to see Colm from the Vagabonds bartering down the price, promising matey we'd bring all 5 cars in the convoy to him. Did we? Did we fuck.

Mongolian Motor Insurance Document
Cost - $15. Value? Less than that 1Tug note above. Why did we buy this? We had to travel about 1000km to find tarmac for gods sake!

Kazakh Immigration ‘statement’ Pt1
This is the document Gareth & Dan got mildly arrested\detained when trying to leave the country as they'd not registered their visas in side the 5 day limit. Oooops.

Kazakh Immigration ‘statement’ Pt2
This is the second page. There was another copy of this document as filled out with our original English ones and then translated into Russian by a nice man named Vadim. One of the questions was genuinely "Why did you do this?". Another was "Are you sorry?".

Oddly, they gave us the Russian ones rather than our English copies.

Can anyone read Russian\Kazakh? Can we go back? We'd love to know!

Dan's 'Bangernomics' certificate from journo James Ruppert, after making him eat his words regarding an article he wrote for MSN Motors where he stated the Perodua Nippa was only fit for scrapping!
